wine has always been interesting to me. as a child, i remember visiting my grandma and she always had a “big juice box” for the adults in the fridge (also known as franzia white zinfandel). her fridge was covered in magnets – my favorite saying “less whine, more wine.” but on a trip to italy in 2015, i took a wine tasting class and it opened up my world to all that wine has to offer – the unique wine growing regions, different characteristics of wine that came out when the growing climate varied or when a different winemaking style was utilized. when trying to learn more about wine on my own, i found that many resources assumed a background knowledge that i just didn’t have. if it were not for the help of a wonderful friend with much more experience in wine than me, i’d probably still be wandering the grocery store aisles debating between yellowtail and barefoot. the learning process has been slow and intimidating, but i’m loving every step of the journey.

now on my journey to my Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) level 2 certification in wine, i started this blog as a way to share what i learn about wine, and hopefully provide resources for beginners to learn more about wine, as well. as a perfectionist, i’m terrified of getting something wrong or sharing bad information. but i’m finding that wine is as much an art as it is a science. there’s no right or wrong way to enjoy wine. it’s all about what tastes good to you.

cheers,
kate
